Protect Our Beach.

Say No to the Port.

Our Mission:

We want to clearly explain why the plan by Drogheda Port, a company wholly owned by Louth County Council, to establish a deep-water port at Gormanston Beach in County Meath is entirely inappropriate on very many levels, and to seek your support by signing our petition.

The proposed development is

  • Not consistent with the National Development Plan to 2040

  • Environmentally damaging

  • Will destroy one of the few beaches on the Meath Coastline

  • Potentially destroying a valuable record of the nation’s archaeological heritage

  • Fraught with poor governance

  • Steeped in conflicts of interest at local, national and EU political level

  • Abusive of democratic principles

  • A developer led project leading inevitably to an unacceptable long-term risk to public finances.
